The Price of Invasive Politicization Part 1

In this video, I share the diatribe of a young woman who apparently believed that, by moving her grandfather’s car without his permission and blasting music in his house at random times, she was bringing justice into the world.

This woman is a physical adult.

Of what is her behavior indicative?

Freud contradicted himself at times when expressing his views on religion.

Freud mistakenly thought that religion could be discarded in favor of science and reason.

It seems that human nature would prevent such an outcome.

Freud, however, also observed the ways in which religion occupies human psychology.

Let’s make a note of Freud’s own words on the subject from The Future of an Illusion:

“If you wish to expel religion from our European civilization you can only do it through another system of doctrines, and from the outset this would take over all the psychological characteristics of religion, the same sanctity, rigidity, and intolerance, the same prohibition of thought in self-defense.”

Have some of us replaced religion with political doctrine to meet the needs previously met by religious beliefs and practices?

Can the behavior of this woman and others who behave like her be understood through the lens of religious replacement?

And is this why our politicization has become so invasive?

With all the criticisms of religion one can compile, given its history, we should note that by replacing religion with political theory and activism, we are not improving the human situation.

Religions tend to have, not merely a dogma and orthodoxy, but a spiritual component that discusses the connection with the divine, personal growth, and character development.

Political theory is all dogma without any path to personal betterment or redemption.

Character development, personal relationships, learning by connecting with family, friends, and people different than us…are these important?

How much have we sacrificed at an altar of false wisdom and pseudo-self-righteousness?

How many ancient lessons will we have to learn all over again?

More on this in the near future.
